Bring the Outside, In
When I was redesigning this beach space I wanted it feel open and light inside, just like the beach. The before space was all dark brown floors, walls and the wood beams over head in the ceiling. There wasn’t much room inside either. The kitchen was inside the family room. Which was useful but crowded. When we renovated it we had to take a bedroom out that was behind the kitchen. So the kitchen grew tremendously. With our large family we needed more space! White and blue was definitely the theme this kitchen from the beginning. Our blue wavy granite counter tops were the first exciting find! I know pretty much going into a kitchen renovation of what I am looking for counter tops. The best is when you actually find them and their in stock!! The beams in the ceiling had the most eye popping transformation which almost didn’t happen. We had the cabinets installed and they were hesitant to spray the whole interior while the new cabinets were in. Thankfully we did it and it was the biggest WOW factor!! We stayed with white appliances so is was a softer look instead of stainless. I don’t believe you always need to do stainless.
There are so many options and do what is affordable to you!! In bringing the outside in, don’t be afraid to use artificial plants. I am no green thumb, so I prefer mixing the two. Adding a fresh bouquet and green artificial plants in corners around the house makes a space complete!
I love the beach, with it’s bright beautiful sparkly sunny beaches and blue/turquoise water anything goes! It inspires the colors you use at your vacation home or home you live in. Many houses have tropical colors in their decorating and that’s the fun with outdoor inspiration! Bringing the outside in!!
