Separating a Space

In this room there are two spaces but one room. That happens in a home more than you think! Many problems can occur that can be difficult, do I paint it one color or two? Should I use the same decorating theme in both places since it is one but two rooms? Do I use the same lighting? I like to keep the colors similar or as close to the same shade as I can. You could go a shade or two lighter or darker but stay with the same color. I wanted the two spaces to be cohesive with each other. But you need to have fun mixing it up also! Everything doesn’t have to be matchy, matchy. The lighting is all done in polished chrome. I kept the same lighting fixtures in the spaces.

I stayed with a nice light, relaxing, and neutral space. When your in that space it is meant to be a place to sleep and get rest. Trying to stay calm as the space should be. The furniture is a darker brown wood with mirror side tables. That gives is a warmer earthy tone to the mostly light surroundings. That allows you to add some browns to the space if you want to. I did not want do many patterns with bedcovers or chairs. That limits what I can do for seasonal changes year round. As each season changes, so does my pillows, throws, vases, blankets and sometimes pictures on the walls. For example in the FALL which is my favorite season to decorate in, I get all my orange, magenta, creams and brown accent pieces to enrich the house for the new season. I feel like using seasonal changes brings in new life into your house. It is really invigorating and therapeutic! You make the investment one season and then reuse throughout the years. Then each season after that I might only get a couple new items.
