Window Treatment Love
When it comes to creating a room, I always start with a color or a fabric I like. I choose a color and stick to it. When understanding curtains or window treatments you need to realize it creates the whole room. I really think about the curtains as the show piece. It will create a dramatic look to a room. Yes, Art work, wall decor are also stand outs but the curtains can make or break a room. If they are the wrong color, length, width or pattern, well….you should just start over! They can really change everything in a room. They can even take a boring room and make it a WoW room!! Over the years, I have seen so many trends come and go with curtains. It has been fun to watch. Curtains could really be changed every 10 years or so. If you seem stuck in a room, change the window treatments and update your pillows. That can really change a room quickly!
In the rooms in these pictures, I went with a light colored and simple look. It brings a calm and peaceful theme to these rooms. I do love a light crisp clean transition into each room. In the large two story family room, I went with the ceiling to floor dramatic look. It really elongates the room and provides a showcase to show how grand the room is. Putting curtains halfway up would have cut off the top of the room. Your eyes wouldn’t have been drawn to the ceilings grandeur. For the Living room and dining room the curtains start at top of molding. Going 5 inches above molding or up to the ceiling, can also add great height to a room with low ceilings. Raising the curtain rod level is such a great idea to do! The windows in the dining and living room have molding that almost hits my crown molding so we just went right above the window molding. You don’t want to drill into your molding that is at the top of your room! I have the curtains just lightly touching the floor. Having a more dramatic look would be using a larger amount laying on the floor. Curtains have endless options! I stay with neutral colors with all my curtains to allow more change with seasonal decorations and paint color on the walls. I love redecorating a space. It always brings new life into a house!
